SNSD -- More records broken, domination defined


SNSD have created history on Japan’s Oricon Chart once again!

Their first Japanese album, ‘Girls’ Generation’ which was officially released on June 1st topped the Oricon Weekly Album Chart (Week 1 of June) with a record-breaking cumulative first week sales figure of 232,000 copies, according to Oricon in the early morning of June 7th. With that feat, ‘Girls’ Generation’ is currently thebest selling first album by a foreign artiste in Japan. The girls are also the only Korean girl group ever to capture the no.1 spot on Oricon Weekly Album Chart.

Besides that, the last time a foreign female girl group has ever topped the Oricon Weekly Album Chart with their first album in the first week was 8 years 3 months ago, by Russian girl group, t.A.T.u. Besides topping the weekly chart, SNSD’s ‘Girls’ Generation’ also topped the Oricon Daily Album Chart for 6 days in a row.

SNSD who had completed their ’1st Japan Arena Tour Concert’ in Osaka and Saitama are now on the way to Paris for the ‘SM Town Live World Tour’ at Le Zenith de Paris which will be taking place on June 10th and 11th. The girls were seen in their unique and casual wears at Incheon International Airport this morning (June 7th).
