SNSD Receives ‘Intel-ligent’ Jewelry!


Intel gave unique and one-of-a-kind jewelry sets to SNSD as gifts recently.

On July 28th, according to Intel Korea’s representative, for remembrance as well as to celebrate the success of the marketing song for the 2nd Generation Intel Core Processors launched earlier this year, special jewelry sets made of Intel chips were presented to SNSD. As models for Intel’s 2nd Generation Core Processors, SNSD was featured in the 2D and 3D ‘Virtual Dream’ music video, posters, brochures, etc to promote the new Intel products across Asia. The Intel-SNSD Collaboration ‘Visual Dreams’ MV, attracted more than 3.5 million views in the first month alone.

The jewelry sets, which consists of a necklace and a pair of earrings was custom-made by American jewelry boutique, Shreve & Co and these are the one and only jewelry sets made of Intel chips in the world. At the back of the necklace’s pendants, the name of all nine members were specially engraved.

Intel’s representative, Lee HeeSung said, “Through our marketing activities with SNSD, not only consumers in Korea and Asian region could get to know more about the Intel 2nd Generation Core Process but also as far as the consumers in Europe. In the future, we hope to be closer with our consumers through more innovative marketing activities”.

SNSD to appear on digital billboard in LA for 4th anniversary!




Large-scale events planned in conjunction with SNSD’s 4th anniversary celebrations will soon become the center of attraction.



SNSD’s largest international fan community ‘Soshified’ announced that they will be setting up a digital billboard, measuring 10.4m x 7.3m, on the main road of Los Angeles from August 1st till August 8th. A 30-second SNSD video will be played on the billboard during that period.



It has been four years since the girls’ debut in 2007 with their song “Into the new world” and they have now become the representatives in Asia.



International fans are also preparing large-scale events for the girls’ anniversary celebrations. According to Soshified’s website, the digital billboard event will be the largest of its kind in America and the video to be played in the central of LA will also attract a lot of attention.



‘Soshified’ also announced that the screen is on top of the Aroma Wilshire Center, located at the central of Wilshire Center region in central LA. The promotional anniversary video, as shown below minus the audio, will be displayed for eight days starting from August 1st.

Yoona, Taeyeon, Sooyoung, and Yuri are best known in Japan


In the episode of M. net’s Boom the K-Pop that airs on July 21, Japanese fans reveal their way of distinguishing each members of SNSD.

Taeyeon, Yoona, Sooyoung, and Yuri are particularly well-known and fans call them “the Four Devas.”

The group’s leader Taeyeon is loved for her beautiful singing voice and Yoona for her innocent characteristics.

Yuri is admired for her slim figure and tanned skin which gave her a nickname of black pearl. Sooyoung’s height and body figure which remind of a model are attractive points.

Seohyun is known as a healthy girl, Sunny a charming girl and Hyoyeon as the best diva recognized throughout Asia as well as in Europe. Tiffany and Jessica are known to speak fluent English.

Japanese fans also made a chart of Japanese stars with SNSD’s members pointing out their similarities. For instance, Toda Erika, Japanese actress who starred in Death Note, is lined with Yoona because of their similar long straight hair style and innocent image.

How do Japanese Fans Tell the Members of Girls' Generation Apart?


On July 21st, the second episode of Mnet's "BOOM the K-POP" featuring Girls' Generation was aired. In order to distinguish between the nine members of Girls' Generation, Japanese fans separated the girls into three different groups that best described and highlighted their features. The girls were placed in three groups; the "Four Devas", also known as the four heavenly guardians of Buddhism, the "Distinctive Personalities" and "The Americans".

Members Yoona, Taeyeon, Yuri and Sooyoung were chosen to be in the "Four Devas" as they were the more popular and recognizable ones among Japanese fans. Yoona's beautiful appearance and cute image gained the attention of fans, while Taeyeon was recognized for her outstanding vocals. "Black Pearl" Yuri caught the eyes of many with her tanned skin and overflowing charisma, and Sooyoung earned the title for being the most fluent member in the Japanese language.

Meanwhile, members Sunny, Hyoyeon and Seohyun form the "Distinctive Personalities" group. This is mainly due to their possessing special qualities that have allowed them to stand out among the rest. Seohyun's positive outlook in life is known even among Japanese fans, and she is famously known as the health enthusiast. Fans also find Sunny's persona delightfully cute, while Hyoyeon's powerful and natural dance skills have left a significant impression on fans.

Finally, "The Americans" more obviously consist of members Jessica and Tiffany. Born and raised in America, the two girls are known for their fluency in the English Language, and are said to have added a unique color and vibe to the group.

Many are commenting on Girls' Generation's hot popularity in Japan, and are intrigued by the different groups assigned to tell the members of Girls' Generation apart.

Yoona to Endorse Eider with Actor Lee Minho


It was recently confirmed on July 20th that Girls' Generation's Yoona and actor Lee Minho will pair up to become CF models for Eider, a French outdoor apparel and equipment brand.

Yoona and Lee Minho will both take over as the representative models for "Eider Friends" following actors Janghyuk and Chun Jungmyung. Starting this fall, the new CF models will meet consumers through the television and printed media. The new season will kick start at the end of July, and Yoona and Lee Minho will be involved in a new advertisement campaign in early August in Australia.

Yoona was chosen as a model for her youthful and fresh image. Due to her popularity in countries like Japan and Europe, she was also picked for her global image, and was cited to be a good fit for the brand.

The marketing team leader for the brand commented, "Last season, the brand gained immense popularity with Janghyuk and Chun Jungmyung. This time however, we would like to focus on young adults in their 20s and 30s with stylish and trendy styles. Lee Minho and Yoona were chosen as the top stars that would be able to represent young people. They have the charm of being stylish fashionistas with their young and chic style, and are expected to give a good and accurate representation of the brand."

Girls’ Generation’s First Japan Arena Tour Ended with Grand Finale by Drawing 140,000 Audiences!



Girls’ Generation’s first Japan Arena Tour ended with grand finale in Fukuoka on the 18th.

Starting from Osaka on May 31st, Girls’ Generation had held ‘Girls’ Generation Arena Tour 2011’ for 14 times in 6 cities in Japan (Saitama, Tokyo, Hiroshima, Nagoya, and Fukuoka). Even though it was their first solo concert in Japan, it drew over 140,000 audiences and proved tremendous popularity of Girls’ Generation who has captivated Asia beyond Korea.

Girls’ Generation fascinated Japanese fans by presenting fantastic performances of unit stages of each members and performed around 30 songs including their Japanese single hit songs such as ‘GENIE,’ ‘Gee,’ ‘Run Devil Run’ and ‘MR.TAXI’ and their first Japanese full album tracks such as ‘Let it rain’ and ‘The great escape.’ They even performed Korean hit songs that haven’t released in Japan yet such as ‘Into the new world’ and ‘Oh!’

Moreover, although this tour was Girls’ Generation’s first tour to be held after 9months of their debut in Japan, it received an intense interest by attracting 450,000 applicants for tickets. Also, Girls’ Generation received a favorable review from Japanese media and the officials by giving finest performance with their various charms, excellent abilities and fancy stages.

Especially, Girls’ Generation will hold their second solo concert at the Gymnastics Stadium in Olympic Park, Seoul on July 23rd and 24th. Girls’ Generation will hold an unusual concert in Korea by performing not only Korean hit songs but also their first Japanese full album, which received Double Platinum (recognized by the Japanese Record Association after selling over 500,000 copies) and ranked the 1st on the Oricon weekly chart. Therefore, it is expected to receive an enthusiastic response from Korean fans.

Meanwhile, Girls’ Generation will hold their second solo concert, ”2011 GIRLS’ GENERATION TOUR” at the Gymnastics Stadium in Olympic Park, Seoul on July 23rd and 24th.
